Description: True first edition, first printing in original black cloth boards. Very few copies of the book were sold on publication in 1939. Much of the remaining stock was destroyed when Longman's warehouse was bombed in the Blitz of 1940. Longman later issued what was left of this printing in grey cloth binding. Thus this copy in the original black cloth is very rare.
