Description: First edition. 1939. In original light blue boards with lettering in gilt to spine. The book is tight and square with clean boards and sharp corners. The text is clean and surprisingly bright for its age. The dust jacket is unclipped and in very good condition, apart from some wear to the top of the spine. A romantic historical novel set among Irish forces fighting with Montrose in Scotland during the Wars of the 3 Kingdom 1639-51. Walsh was one of Ireland's most widely read authors in the 1920s and 30's, his best known books being The Quiet Man (made into movie with John Wayne and Maureen O' Hara in 1952) and Blackcock's Feather. Scarce in dust jacket.
